Previous commit broke Node.js/tsx by using the ESM entry point which
doesn't work with Node. This creates a wrapper module that:
- Uses require() for lazy loading (works in both Node and Bun)
- Gracefully handles load failures (returns original image)
- Works in Node.js, tsx, and Bun compiled binaries
- Import photon-node from ESM entry point (photon_rs_bg.js) instead of CJS
entry, allowing Bun to embed WASM in compiled binaries
- Add photon.d.ts for TypeScript support of ESM entry
- Add scripts/build-binaries.sh for local binary builds
- Simplify GitHub workflow to use the build script
- Add binaries/ to gitignore
Fixes#696
- Replaced sharp dependency with wasm-vips (WebAssembly build of libvips)
- Eliminates native build requirements that caused installation failures
- Added vips.ts singleton wrapper for async initialization
- Updated image-resize.ts and image-convert.ts to use wasm-vips API
- Added unit tests for image processing functionality
JPEG/GIF/WebP images were not rendering in terminals using the Kitty
graphics protocol (Kitty, Ghostty, WezTerm) because it requires PNG
format (f=100). Non-PNG images are now converted to PNG using sharp
before being sent to the terminal.
